Match Intro

Group A continues in Breukelen, the Netherlands, as Tijs and Bart step into the sand circle for another match in DojoLink’s 8-man Beach Wrestling tournament. Tijs enters in blue shorts, while Bart competes in white shorts, creating a matchup where movement, balance, and control after the takedown become the most important questions from the opening exchange. Beach Wrestling creates a very different kind of pressure than fighting on the mat. The sand makes footwork unstable, takedown entries harder to finish cleanly, and top control more difficult to hold. In this tournament format, scoring does not come from simply getting the opponent down. A fighter has to turn the takedown into a controlled 3-second pin.
Breakdown
The physical setup gives this match a clear tactical angle. Bart brings the taller confirmed frame, which can help with reach, upper-body control, and grip positioning. If he can extend the exchanges and control Tijs from distance, he may be able to create strong takedown opportunities and settle into pinning pressure. Tijs has a different problem to solve. As the slightly lighter fighter without the same confirmed height advantage, he likely needs activity, sharp entries, and quick reactions after contact. Against a taller opponent, standing still for too long can become dangerous. Closing distance, forcing scrambles, or attacking at the right moment can prevent Bart from building clean control. That is what makes this Beach Wrestling matchup interesting. Bart may have the frame to control space, but the sand does not always reward the fighter who looks longer or more stable at first glance. A missed step, loose grip, or rushed pin attempt can open the door for an immediate reversal. In this format, the takedown is only half of the battle. The real scoring moment comes after impact, when both fighters have to fight through unstable sand, shifting weight, and fast scrambles. Whoever can stabilize first has the chance to turn position into a 3-second pin. Tijs vs. Bart is a sharp Group A test inside the DojoLink Beach Wrestling tournament: reach and control on one side, movement and scramble urgency on the other. Over 5 minutes, the fighter who manages balance better after the takedown may be the one who controls the score.
